So it's been over a month since Gunman Clives release. The response have been increadibly positive and the sales have been better than I dared hope for (though still not enough to make me rich or even particularly well paid).
Here's a few of the reviews:
Eurogamer
TouchArcade
ifanzine
Pocket Gamer
Swedroid (Swedish)
I've been meaning to get started on my next game for a while now but I have trouble finding the motivation and getting into the right spirit. I did a few rendering experiments but they turned out rather crappy. After Gunman Clive I'm feeling quite some pressure to deliver another unique stylish look for my next game; and it also needs to be something production effecient and not too GPU heavy to run on weaker devices. No small feat, but I'm trying not to worry too much about it.

Here's an idea: Along the lines of GC, a bobby (a British police constable) on the streets and rooftops of 19th century London. Baton in hand, just like GC, he'll have his policeman's helmet over his eyes. Not thought of a plot yet, although he could be chasing villains like a Spring Heeled Jack, check this:

Really enjoying GC, its excellent! Keep at it, you'll find the inspiration you need soon enough!
ReplyDeleteHi Bertil, Bravo for this wonderful game!
ReplyDeleteHere is our (french) review : http://www.android-games.fr/jeux/gunman-clive
Hey, I loved the game. The design felt like the inticreates megaman which I love. Fantastic music, controls responded beautifully even for my HTC thunderbolt. I only had 1 gripe and it wasn't even a big deal but the last boss was kind of weak for a last boss. Mostly cause I've run into that pattern of bosses in a million other games so it was mostly muscle memory where as when I fought that train I got my ass handed to me. Other than that I would love to get more and for some reason it won't let me rate, otherwise I would 5 star you. Excellent game and the best android game I've played yet.
ReplyDeleteI've played a game years ago called Lucky Luke which was exactly the same but for PC and withanother hero avatar.
ReplyDeleteReally excellent stuff.
ReplyDeleteThe one complaint I keep seeing on the market is that the game is too short... I haven't finished it yet myself, but have you considered doing a sequel while you plan your next game?
I'd definitely pay another two bucks to get another set of levels, anyway... You could add a few "moves" like sliding (down+jump) or melee combat (automatic at close range?), or some puzzle elements here and there, something so people don't feel like it's "just more levels."
Anyway, great work, will definitely be watching out for your next release.
Me again! Just finished it. Seemed like a reasonable length to me, but I'd definitely like to see a part 2.
DeleteSliding, wall-jumping, "cliff-hanging" (pull up on ledges) would all make pretty cool additions I think... Maybe a horseback shootout scene?
I almost wish I could build my own levels, I feel like this still could have a ton of untapped potential.
Anyway, just my two cents... Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next!
This game was fun, hope to see another game of yours soon! I agree with those who want a sequel of Gunman Clive!
ReplyDeleteGlad i didnt pay for that Game. Ever heard of Checkpoints? You know... these tiny little Things that Programmers who are not Morons implent in a Jump n Run so the Player must not play the whole fucking Level again. Maybe you should think about that before making a New Game. The only cook Thing on that Game is the Retroish Graphic Design. Gameplay is stolen from Lucky Luke from Snes.. well. Good Night.
ReplyDeleteYou're playing it wrong. Stop dying so much.
DeleteYou are an idiot and a bad person.
DeleteThe levels take less than 10 min to finish and enemies drop health. If you die and have more than one hit left you spawn right before you died.....why in the world would you need check points. I assume you are a troll or have mental issues.
DeleteLoved the game. Its awesome and it looks great. Wonderful job !
ReplyDeleteBertil! Thank you for such a wonderful game! Looking forward to whatever you release in the future.
ReplyDeleteA sequel plz! I would advertise it in Germany and pay up to 5 $ for it!
ReplyDeleteI am working on my first game, to be released for PC.
ReplyDeleteI have some questions about the creation of my games company and other little things(anything releated to the making of the game).
I think you can answer my questions. Could you send me an e-mail to diogobolinhas@gmail.com so we can talk?
Great job! Nice to see a quality game on the app store!
ReplyDeleteYou made a really great game, why not just continue to do so with a sequel / add more levels ?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this game was the refreshing game I missed so much, thanks for that gold!
Personaly I think you have something really good here I bought the game twice once on my 3ds and once on my sony ericsson play. I think some new levels would be nice and I think that some new moves alternate costumes or new level concepts would be great.
ReplyDeleteAny chance of getting a sequel or maybe another set of downloadable challenge maps we could buy in the Nintendo EShop? LOVE the art style and the classic platforming is superb.
